Catching Up - Earring Exchange
I'm participating in the fall earring exchange over at Lampwork Etc. Each participant makes between 3 and 5 earrings, and then gets the same number of pairs back. I love unusually shaped ear wires, and am quite pleased with the results of these 5 pairs. I love some of them so much that I'm trying to recreate the beads to get a couple of pairs for myself!

Solar Flare Blog Hop
If you're reading this, I know you're thinking that I haven't posted in a while. Its been a month filled with being out of town and all that entails. But I'm back home and very excited to share new things with you!
I joined the "Solar Flare Blog Hop - the challenge was to create a piece of jewelry around this picture:
I loved the pinky-oranges, and set to work creating a set of lampwork beads in a creamy alabaster glass with plenty of rose and apricot glass swirled in. Add to that a couple of darker lampwork beads for contrast, and some matte gold metal beads, and here's the result:
My favourite bit is the gold leather knot:
If you'd like to check out the other work, here's a link to everyone else participating:

Pantone Bead Swap
I signed up for a bead swap based on the Fall 2012 colours by Pantone
. I'll reveal the actual beads for this swap when then reach my partner, but thought it would be fun to show the colour samples, based on the colour match for the closest glass colour that I have. The colour I had the hardest time with was "Rose Smoke" a pale pinky-grey. I thought I had a Colour-is-Messy special glass, which would have been a closer match, but ended up with a pale pink Bullseye glass instead. The actual beads are off to my partner, also a lampworker, in Luxembourg tomorrow!

Happy Adopt-iversary
This is Scout, who joined the family a year ago last week. She came from an adoption event at a local shelter, and quickly settled in to life in the household.
Her personality is totally true to her name - she's curious, precocious, spunky and smart.

Post and Run
I'm feeling rather uninspired today, but trying to keep up the practice of doing something for myself each day. So in that spirit, I'm just going to post a couple new beadies and be done with it...

The year that was...
I'd never intended to give up on the blog as much as I did - the combination of a new job and a busy travel schedule played their part, but really, on some level, the blog wasn't really who I was any more.
I felt like the blog was an extention of so many of the stitching communities I was a part of, and no longer really feel like I belong to. I haven't stitched in a year, maybe more. No Christmas ornaments, not even a couple of threads in the large and ongoing projects. And I don't even really feel like I want to. I want to melt glass, and get better at glassy things. I look at the sparkie threads and pretty scissors and feel like that's no longer part of what it is I enjoy about crafting.
So here's the latest glassy stuff - and I hope there are a few people that might want to stick around, or join me in the latest adventures.
